THE “YUNUS” WAY
As do Nobel Peace Prize Awardee, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Grameen Pilipinas Microfinance, Inc. (GPMI) believes that in order to lift communities out of poverty, a mechanism of income that raises their capital is essential. Collectively marketing the business of several entrepreneurs in a community helps increase sales for each stakeholder. In the same way, cooperative purchase of raw materials decreases the cost of business for every participating business owner.
OUR SOCIAL BUSINESS PROJECTS
The TayTay Ragmakers
In 2017, the Municipality of Taytay in the Province of Rizal was fast becoming a center of commerce second only to Cainta. The presence of artisans like woodworkers and seamstresses made it a potential hub for specialized goods.
Sari-Saring Aralan
As part of the centenary celebration of the Rotary Club of Manila in 2018, GPMI teamed up with Ayala Foundation and the Local Government of Manila in a 6-month community development project called, “Sari-Saring Aralan.”
Café Lab
Pasay City North High School (PCNHS) is a government institution where students are mostly from below the lower middle-income families. Poverty almost always is the main cause children drop out of school.
